Taproot
Welcome
(2002)
Genre:
Nu Metal, Alternative Metal, Post Grunge
So
here we go with Taproot’s second album, which is an interesting experience, we
find band experimenting with their sound and trying new things. This production
made me get really interested in the band and start getting there whole discography,
so guys please enjoy my brief review.
Vocals
and Lyrics: Stephan sings better on this album but his lyrics are still an
issue. 7
Instrumentation:
Guitar: Mr. DeWolf’s playing is great and he uses some interesting pedal
effects and distortions.
Bass: Lipscomb bass playing is just as good as the last album.
Drums: There some pretty intriguing rhythms on this album. 6.8
Melody and/or Structure: Less rap
and riffs, more melody. Less aggression leads to better songs writing for these
guys. 8
Sound,
Production and Feeling: Less of a heavy sound more and its more radio friendly,
but this doesn’t compromise the songs. 8
Songs:
Most of the songs are great but two of them are pretty lame and uninspired like
“Dreams” or “Time”. 10
The
Bad:
Originality:
They band really pushes themselves into find their own sound and they are growing
in there sophistication. 8
Overall:
47.8
