Marilyn Manson Born Villain (2012) Genre: Alternative Metal, Alternative Rock, Industrial Rock

Marilyn Manson

Born Villain (2012)
Genre: Alternative Metal, Alternative Rock, Industrial Rock

It`s like Déjà vu, this production is just like in Manson’s last album you have 5 really good tracks and bunch of fillers. Manson has his own personal “Load” and “Reload”, with this album being marginally better than “The High End Low”.

Vocals and Lyrics: Lyrically just like the previous album there are just a bunch of recycled ideas and Manson doesn’t bring anything new vocally. 6

Instrumentation: Twiggy and Vrenna do a good job, but honestly Manson should let there be more room for instrumentation he dominates to much in each song. 6.5

Melody and/or Structure: The songs on this album are too predictable. 6

Sound, Production and Feeling: It sounds good, but the only thing that can save Manson at this moment of his career is to have a heavy handed production to fill in the gaps of the lack of ideas. 8

Songs: Manson should have put out an EP instead of a full album, if you don’t have the material to make a complete album. 6

The Bad: There is some pretty mediocre stuff on this album. -3

Originality: Album sounds a little bit more focused and the heaviness is welcomed.   6.5

Overall: 36

Manson The High end of Low (2009) Genre: Alternative Metal, Alternative Rock, Industrial Metal

Manson
The High end of Low (2009)
Genre: Alternative Metal, Alternative Rock, Industrial Metal

Man this album is a waste of time, there are about six good songs in this production, Manson could have made a killer EP, but went for a full on Album with very little to offer; only diehard fans could like this album.

Vocals and Lyrics: Manson doesn’t try anything new, and lyrically there is nothing interesting just a bunch of recycles ideas.

Instrumentation: It’s Ok, nothing breathe taking, but Twiggy has a couple of good riffs up his sleeve.  6.5

Melody and/or Structure: Some good riffs here and there 7

Sound, Production and Feeling: Man you have Chris Vrenna founding member of NIN in the band you could have let him done more in production. The Album is to clean cut in production and sound. 7

Songs: For every good song you have a monster sized filler 6

The Bad: The album lags too much; it’s like heavy elevator music at moments -3

Originality: Nothing new and nothing sounds too dangerous, and you have Manson devoid of any new ideas.  6

Overall: 35.5

Taproot Blue-Sky Research (2005) Genre: Alternative Metal, Alternative Rock

Taproot
Blue-Sky Research (2005)
Genre:  Alternative Metal, Alternative Rock

My Taproot reviews sadly are one of my least read posts that I have, I don’t know if the people hate this band, or people have forgotten about these guys, or they are incredibly unknown. You got to give these guys a chance  especially  this album is fantastic we find a band maturing breaking away from their Nu Metal origins, doing their own thing.

Vocals and Lyrics:  Stephan finally finds his voice and style; his sing and song writing improves a lot, and he nails a few catchy hooks. 9

Instrumentation: In general it’s pretty good nothing stands out; the instrumentation is at serves to the songs.
6.6

Melody and/or Structure: There are some really interesting and original melodies, and there Riffs pack a punch. 9

Sound, Production and Feeling: The production is balanced showing off their melodic side and heavy side equally.  8

Songs: No fillers, great material 13

The Bad:

Originality: The band finally consolidates their own style 10

Overall: 55.6
