Bush
Sixteen Stone (1994)
Genre: Post Grunge, Grunge, Hard Rock
I remember traveling to the States around the time that this album came out and it had just exploded
on the radio they were all over place, and me and my dad just loved it so much we
went and got it immediately and this album basically became the sound track to a road trip
that we had from San Francisco to L.A, I actually have a home video where we
are crossing the Golden Gate Bridge and we are blasting "Come Down"
and "Glycerin" on a cloudy and rainy day it was just perfect, it's
one of my fondest musical memories, it set the ground work for my musical
awakening. I must add with my first band that I had when I was 16 we used to play "Machine Head" in
our set list and people just loved it.
Vocals and Lyric: Gaven Rossdale for good and for bad does his best
vocal and lyrical work in his career, everything he does from this point will
be compared to this album because it's one of the band
greatest hit it has. 10
Instrumentation: This band is a pretty conventional Grungy/Hard
Rock band their instrumentation is functional to the songs. Nigel Pulsford as the guitar player does have his own style
of playing that gives this band some character. Also we have to mention Dave Parsons the bass
player does play nothing out of the ordinary but his bass line on "Come
Down" is fantastic.7
Melody and/or
Structure: Surprisingly well written album, it surprising to see a band in
there first album have such well balance songs, with excellent use of melody
and mood.10
Sound, Production and Feeling: Pretty
basic mix nothing out of the ordinary, but some well placed strings on a couple
of occasions . 8
Songs: This album is good from front to back, but this
production in particular was able to put out 5 singles that had heavy radio
play, with 2 ranking number 1 which
are Glycerin and Comedown, few band have
been able to do that on their debut album. 12
Originality: These guys sort of
became the poster boys for post grunge and pushed the alternative rock movement
during the mid 90's 12

Bush
Razor Blade Suitcase (1996)
Genre: Alternative Rock, Post Grunge, Grunge
If the band didn't like being compared to Nirvana,
back in the day, they did the oddest thing, they got Steve Albini, the guy that
produced In Utero, Nirvana's greatedt master peace, to produce this album that is chucked filled
with Nirvanism, in sound, style, and
vocals. Ignoring this you could say that this album is pretty good in general
it does lag a bit at the end the ballads just fall flat. Nigel dives deeper
into his style adding simulated sloppy/glitchy stuff/noise to give this album
that reminisanse of In Utero.
I must add at my bands first show for a surprising
amount a people we opened with Swallowed, and I was so nerves that I accidently
ended the song with final bass part after the first chorus, and we where kids
we didn't know how to get out of that mess and left the song there, I remember
everyone wondering why that song was so short.

Deconstructed (1997)
Genre: Post Grunge, electronic
Why did rock and metal band insisted on making remix albums during the
90's is beyond me because the tended to be terrible and this one is no exeption
not even the track with Tricky, this production sucks.

The Science of Things (1999)
Genre: Grunge, Post-Grunge
This is a pretty good album it much more consistent
than Razor Blade Suitcase, they sort of jump into the fade of adding electrics to their sound, but in this
case it works and also Nigel uses really interesting effects adding to his
glitchy style of playing.
Overall: 56
Golden State
Genre: Post Grunge
This is the last album with the original band after
this Nigel and Dave leave the band, it's a Ok production the song are good but
they do not trying anything new, it seem uninspired at moments.

Institute
Distort Yourself (2005)
Genre: Alternative Rock, Rock
It just a progression from Bush's Golden State, it a
pretty uninspired album and painfully mediocre at moments.

Gaven Rossdale solo
WANDERlust (2008)
Genre: Alternative Rock, Post Grunge
So Gaven set out to make a solo album that has some good and some bad,
the positive things about this album we can hear Roosdale vocally going to new
places and trying sing more, also musicaly he tries new stuff. Now the negative
some of the more rock tracks seem pretty watered down they just took all of the
energy out of them to make this production more radio friendly and there is a reggae
inspired track that should have never existed.
Chris Traynor, ex Helmet and
Institute, guitar player does a nice good job and Josh Freese (A Perfect Circle
and NIN) gives a nice touch to the songs. The album has a couple as guests
vocalist like Shirley Manson (Garbage) and surprisingly Katy Perry.

Sea of Memories (2011)

This album has everything to be a fantastic album but
it just doesn't trap me, you would have
thought that after such a long wait Gaven would have tons of fresh ideas but there
isn't anything interesting on this album.
